In my years of heading a security and housekeeping agency, one of the most common mistakes I have seen is people don’t change their security guards periodically as they become comfortable with them. However, it is clearly known that most of the frauds and lapses that occur are done by the security guards who have been around for a long time.

3 Reasons to change your Security Guards periodically:

1. The guard gets friendly with the staff and tends to connive with the staff for fraud.
2. The guard starts taking things for granted and establishes a lethargic attitude towards the work.
3. The guard can directly/indirectly involve you in a labor law dispute, especially the one who is doing 12 hours service and has been working at your premises uninterruptedly for a long time. He can make you liable for any transgression in wages as you are the principal employer.

If the guarding has been outsourced you can easily ask your agency to keep changing the guard till you are happy and comfortable with him.

In my experience any period between 6 months to a year is an ideal period to change the guard.
